Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We pray you will all have a happy holiday season remembering most of all that Christ is LORD and the only One worth celebrating!
Adam and I have now made it through almost a year and a half of marriage. We both agree it has only gotten sweeter with age! God has been very gracious to us and in our darkest moments of newly married life His light has guided us closer to our Heavenly Father and to each other.
Our first year has been full of wonderful blessings and challenges! Being eight hours apart for our entire dating relationship and only physically being around each other a handful of times before getting married has made living together and getting to know each other in marriage an adventure! It’s amazing how much you think you know about a person….until you live with them!
In February Adam was called to full time ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Danville, KY as the Music and Media Minister. His daily work includes preparing for Sunday morning services and Wednesday night practices with the praise band. He has also worked very hard on updating Calvary’s website, uploading videos of Sunday sermons, and getting the church socially connected on Facebook and Twitter. Adam is also teaching music lessons. He has two mandolin students, two classical guitar students and two piano students. He enjoys all of his students and the challenge teaching brings. Adam’s palate has changed quite a bit over the last year and half. Spinach, kale, and broccoli are now part of his daily meals and the best part is he doesn’t mind so much!
Lydia has spent the last year getting used to being away from family and living in a new land that has cold, cold weather and nasty, giant slugs! But she quickly learned that the salt used for ice on driveways is perfect for year-round use as slug repellent. Lydia has made lots of new, wonderful friends and meets weekly with different women from the church for coffee or lunch dates. She has completed two 5K races this year. The beginning of the 2012 school year Lydia began teaching Sunday School for the 7/8th grade class at church. She enjoys teaching them about Christ and His marvelous works and watching them as they grow in their relationship with the Lord. Lydia has also discovered that cooking for less than six people is hard. She now not only highly dislikes washing dishes but also highly dislikes cooking. Adam is very good at helping her wash dishes because he likes it when she cooks. It’s a good compromise!
We look forward to another year living and trusting in God’s faithfulness and we pray you will join us in being faithful servants of the Most High.

P.S. Our first year, newly married advice: read a book together, take turns reading aloud, and be sure to discuss any points that are thought provoking and intriguing together.
